GAA
Camogie
Dunboyne SPS camogie team have been going from strength to strength in recent years. With the help of teachers and our local Dunboyne Intermediate Camogie players Dearbhla Curran and Sinéad Clince, the students in our school are getting great experience and exposure to the game. We train on a weekly basis. Our girls represented the school in Cuman na mBunscol 7- aside tournament in Ashbourne GAA November 2024. We look forward to the 13- aside games coming up at the end of Spring.
Hurling
The school hurling team is comprised of boys from 5th and 6th class. The team trains every Thursday at the ball wall in St. Peter’s GAA Club from 3- 4pm. The Cumann na mBunscol hurling league begins at the end of March. Club member, Peter Moran, and former principal, Mr. Lyons, help Mr. Fadian in preparing the team.
Girls Football
5th & 6th class girls’ football runs throughout the year, training once a week. The 6th class team participates in the Cumann na mBunscol competition each autumn and they also play in a spring league with local teams. We reached the final of the Cumann na mBunscol competition in 2019 and the girls had the opportunity to play in Páirc Tailteann. We also run a mini league within the school for 3rd, 4th & 5th classes during May which the 6th class players organise and manage. We are proud of each of our girls that continue the strong tradition of girls’ football in the school.
Boys Football
The Senior Boys team (5th and 6th) competes in the Meath Cumann na mBunscol and Fingal Leagues competitions, while the Junior Boys team (5th and 4th) competes in the Fingal League and Meath Spring League. In November 2019 the Senior boys were successful in winning Division One of the Meath Cumann na mBunscol competition, defeating St. Paul’s of Navan in a replay after two very exciting matches. 45 boys played their part in the journey to the final and the victory was testament to all their hard work over the past few years.
